Callers talk about politics, other topics

In reference to James: Poor Obama, getting blamed for our economy problems. If I am correct, I think that Bush is president right now. And no, not only did Bush put us in this mess, it is the Senators and Congress that made choices for us. So why vote? They do what they want anyway. Mary more >>

Callers comment on politics, vampires and other topics

I am calling about the picture of the painting of the U.N. ceiling at Geneva that they paid $23 million for. I don't know why they just couldn't have just used some plain old blue paint and painted it and saved quite a few million dollars and used that money to help people that are starving in this world. Callers comment on proposed dog park, politics and other topics

I would like to respond to Mark in Victoria who made the comment that Obama is going to destroy the country. He is blaming good ol' W. Well, this country has been in this for a lot longer than George Bush. So who are we supposed to blame? All of the people who have been up there as politicians. That is whose fault it is. It was not one individual, it was all of them. more >>

Callers talk about Veterans Day, auto industry and other topics

Veterans Day participation? Perhaps, surprisingly to some; to some, I will not although serving in both WW II European and Asiatic War theaters, I prefer to use Nov. 11 as a private, serious remembrance. Bill more >>

Callers continue to talk about Obama, city charter, Oprah and other topics

Let's face it people, Barack Obama is our president. If you don't like someone because of the color of their skin here on Earth, then what makes you think that you will make it into heaven. Ask yourself that. more >>

Callers talk about overdue library books and Oprah

The lady with the overdue library book is very irresponsible. The $180 fine is way out of line. I would like to see an Advocate investigative reporter do a complete investigation on Victoria's Municipal Court. Municipal Court is a cash cow for the city of Victoria. City Hall puts a cash quota on the Municipal Court; if it doesn't reach this quota, the judge's contracts are not renewed. Ask Judge Whitaker. His contract wasn't renewed. This Doug Anderson has been here too long - 11 years - and probably never dismissed a case in his whole 11 years. Jim more >>
