Exelon would have positive impact
advertising
Editor, the Advocate:

The proposed Exelon Nuclear project will bring an investment to our community in the billions of dollars.

In addition to the new tax base, an estimated 700 permanent jobs will be created with an average salary of $70,000 annually. This investment and these jobs will be the best way to secure the community’s future with the potential to stabilize taxes for all taxpayers. Other sectors of our local economy will flourish and create more new jobs as new homes are built and retail sales increase.

This project has the potential to offer great-paying careers, in one of the nation’s safest industries, to the children of this region who are willing to stay in school and get the required training and or education. Without this project, many of our best and brightest kids will have no option but to leave our community and may never return.

In addition to the obvious benefits, the Exelon project will have a great social impact. New people will move to our area. These new families will be educated; they will bring new ideas and will be involved in every aspect of our community from the schools to the arts.

We have grown to appreciate a high standard of living in this community. The only way to maintain and even improve that standard is by increasing the tax base while at the same time increasing the number of high-wage jobs.

Victoria is at a tipping point; this project will be the beginning of the next wave of prosperity and community enhancing growth. When the Exelon project happens, it has the potential to affect us all in a very positive way. If it does not, we will all be affected as well. Speak up Victoria! We need this project.
