To all you people out there who believe this Exelon plant is such a great advantage for our area, think again! As is stated in the TSEPA advertisement in the Victoria Advocate, “Most of the people making the decisions to build this nuclear plant near Victoria — and profiting from it — don’t even live in Texas.”
We as landowners along U.S. Highway 77 South are being forced by GBRA to allow them on our property (as guests) to do a study for a proposed water pipeline from the proposed Exelon plant to Coleto Creek. In this matter, as a property owner, I was threatened with a lawsuit if I did not comply and allow them on our private property to do their studies. I am totally opposed to this Exelon nuclear plant and have been since I first learned they may locate here in Victoria County. We are property owners of land only about five miles north of this proposed plant. This land has been in the family for several generations.
My main concern from the very beginning is the waste and how it will be disposed of and the fact there can always be a chance for leaks. Not even thinking about what could happen to our clean water.
If this proposed plant is so beneficial to Victoria’s growth, why is Bay City not a large bustling city? Who would want to retire here in Victoria with a nuclear plant located in our county?
I do not know the O’Connor family but as a Victoria resident, I am aware through the Victoria Advocate the family is dealing with issues past and present that we are facing with our land and environment today. Their interest in turn helps the small land owners. They are helping each and every citizen by taking on these important environmental issues.
The O’Connor family are our true heroes here in South Texas.
