African American chamber’s gala promises to be a must-go-to event
advertising
The African American Chamber of Commerce’s goal of filling the gap that the Victoria Chamber of Commerce doesn’t fill is a plus for the community. This goal promises to be met at the African American Chamber of Commerce — Victoria’s second annual Chairman’s Awards Gala.

And the individuals who the African American chamber has tapped for honoring this year are certainly deserving of that honor.

Selected members for their work in the community are Victoria businesswoman Adeline Barefield (business award), University of Houston-Victoria President Tim Hudson (education award), Citizen’s Medical Center’s physician recruiter Omar Rachid (humanitarian award) and Laura Sanders, past Workforce Solutions of the Golden Crescent executive director (public service award).

Often times, people who make a difference in our community never get recognized or don’t receive enough accolades their due. In this vein, the African American Chamber is meeting its goal.

If you remember last year’s African American chamber event, it was a choreographed event, much like you might experience in Hollywood. With no holds barred for an extravaganza you’ll not see the likes of near or far. The event dazzled many of us. And last year’s event came after the African American Chamber had almost fallen into non-existence.

This year’s Chairman’s Awards Gala promises to be another spectacular celebration. We urge all to attend this fabulous event.
