Victoria College Academic Foundations Division Chair and Associate Professor of Mathematics, Babette Lowe, graduated from the Academy for Leadership and Development after completing the program requirements in June. The academy is a year-long program developed by the Chair Academy, a division of the Maricopa Community College District, in Mesa, Ariz., for the purpose of advancing organizational leadership and provides succession planning for leaders in post secondary institutions.

Sonia Solis was recently hired as senior secretary in the Letting Education Achieve Dreams program at the University of Houston-Victoria. Solis oversees the day-to-day office operations of the program, including accounting and scheduling duties, and acts as a point of first contact with the public.

Crystal Luna was recently hired as a financial aid counselor at the University of Houston-Victoria. Luna assists students in finding and applying for financial aid to pay for their studies. She previously worked with Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation and as a financial aid counselor at The Victoria College.

Patti Guzman was recently hired as senior secretary in the Business Services office at the University of Houston-Victoria. She assists in the day-to-day operations of the office including accounting and scheduling duties and acts as a point of first contact with the public. She also assists in the daily administration of safety, risk management and security operations.

Holly Verhasselt was recently promoted to executive assistant to the provost at the University of Houston-Victoria. She will assist the provost in the daily administration of the university’s faculty and academic affairs. She previously worked as the constituent relations coordinator for the School of Business Administration.
