O’Connor said that the more than a month delay in getting results from a Corpus Christi Department of Public Safety lab is a reason Victoria should have a local lab.
“Upon taking office as sheriff, I came to the realization of the need for a forensics’facility,” O’Connor said. “This case further emphasizes the need for a local crime lab. I continue to push forward with the University of Houston-Victoria with our efforts in Victoria County…
“As Victoria County and this region continue to grow, the need for a facility of this nature will only increase.”
O’Connor acknowledged that rumors have been circulating recently about the case.“This case has reached national attention and we will continue to focus on the facts and facts alone as we do in all cases,”O’Connor said. “Rumors do not play a role in this investigation…
“Rumors and innuendos are harmful to any investigation; therefore, we must rely on facts. We will work to protect the innocent as well as apprehend the guilty.”
