Wharton woman escapes injury in rollover

EL CAMPO – A 20-year-old Wharton woman fell asleep at the wheel of her sports utility vehicle, clipped a telephone pole and rammed into two parked pickups before rolling over early Wednesday morning.
Nicole Rodriguez, driving the 2005 Nissan Murano, was treated at the scene and released, said El Campo Police Department Senior Patrol Officer James Herrington.
The wreck happened at 5:55 a.m. in the 1500 block of East Jackson Street. Rodriguez was cited for failure to drive in a single traffic lane. The trucks were parked on the property of a local business and were for sale.
Rodriguez was headed home from work when the wreck occurred.
