The $4-million facility will be called the Ganado Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and will be built on the old Mauritz Memorial Hospital site.
“We plan on breaking ground in October, with completion set for late summer or fall of 2009, ” Byron Burris, president of the Ganado Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, said.
The new 80-bed facility will offer state-of-the-art rehabilitation and nursing home services.
“Ganado will have a brand new multi-million dollar facility in place of an old dilapidated building, and after a short-term abatement that property will be back on the tax rolls,” Jim Moser, president of the Jackson County Hospital District, said. “In addition, the facility will nearly double in size, create more jobs in the community and bring a private business to the county that will offer superior services and facilities to what the hospital district could offer.”
Current residents in the Jackson County Nursing Home will have the first opportunity to move into the new facility. New residents will also be accepted.
Advanced healthcare, nursing, and rehabilitation services are needed in Jackson County as senior citizens look for services close to home. Ganado Nursing and Rehabilitation will accept Medicare, Medicaid, insurance and private pay for all services.
