Cuero man arrested in attempted murder case

CUERO – A 35-year-old Cuero man is in DeWitt County Jail facing attempted murder charges and seven additional felonies.

Police arrested Johnny Hargrove Friday after an investigation into allegations he attempted to kill a 25-year-old Cuero woman with a knife and threatened her children, ages 4 and 9, on July 21 in the 700 block of North Valley Street. Cuero Police Lt. Steven Ellis led the investigation that ended with the attempted murder charge, plus two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of unlawful restraint, two counts of abandoning/endangering a child, and one count of injury to a child, according to a news release from the Cuero Police Department.

Hargrove was arrested without incident in the 300 block of West Church Street. He remains in jail in lieu of posting bail on a $320,000 bond.
