VICTORIA – A 24-year-old Victoria man by officers Saturday on suspicion of assaulting a public servant. The man is accused of hitting an officer who arrested him.

HALLETTSVILLE – Lavaca County Sheriff’s Department deputies detained one suspected illegal immigrant from Honduras following a traffic stop Saturday night.
At about 11 p.m., a deputy tried to stop a van for a traffic violation on alternate U.S. Highway 90 near County Road 156.
The van left the roadway into the thick brush. One man was detained. About six others fled after a search and were not located.
The Hallettsville Police Department assisted the sheriff’s office in the search. The detainee was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
