Man guilty of sexual assault

A jury found a 61-year-old Austin man guilty Wednesday of sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl.Daniel Alvarado was convicted on one charge of aggravated sexual assault and one charge of indecency with a child in Oct., 2006.
It took about 15 minutes for the jury to reach its decision.
“I really think they believed the girl,” said prosecutor Brian Hrach.
Alvarado declined to have the jury decide his punishment, which can range from five to 99 years for the aggravated sexual assault charge.
District Judge Robert Cheshire will decide Alvarado’s punishment on July 24.
