Troopers find $275,408 worth of suspected cocaine during arrest

Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers arrested a 31-year-old man Thursday morning after they discovered what they suspected was 15 bundles of cocaine hidden in the factory fuel tank of his 2005 Dodge pick-up. Ernesto Garcia Jr., of San Juan, Texas, was driving on U.S. Hwy. 59 N. near Louise at around 10 a.m. when DPS troopers pulled him over for speeding, according to a DPS arrest report written by Trooper Alfred Ochoa. more >>

No one was injured when a Chrysler 300 and a man on a bicycle collided Thursday afternoon on Houston Highway. A woman in her 40s turned left from Louis Street to Houston Highway at 3:45 p.m. and, seconds later, a 46-year-old man on a bicycle did the same, said Officer Robbie Morish with the Victoria Police Department. more >>

An Edna man who murdered three neighbors while trying to rob their home in 2005 was sentenced to death Wednesday. 1,153 drug tablets found

Bart Simpson was the face of drugs funneled through Victoria County last week. Deputies arrested Myron Jermale Jackson, 26, after finding 1,153 Ecstasy tablets - many shaped like the cartoon boy - and a quarter liter of liquid Codeine in his car during a routine traffic stop Dec. 1. The purple pills and Codeine are valued at $20 per dose, Sheriff T. Michael O'Connor said Monday. more >>

Police search for credit card fraud suspect

Crime: Victoria police suspect at least one credit card was among the items stolen from a resident when a wallet was taken from a shopping cart on Nov. 9. Within the next few hours, the criminal used the credit card several times at various stores throughout Victoria. Suspect: Shown in this photo, he was caught on store video taking the wallet from the basket. He also was seen in other stores' videos using the card for the illegal purchases. The offender is described as a thin, black man who was wearing red-rimmed sunglasses, a white shirt, dark pants and what appears to be a dog tag-style necklace. more >>
