Victoria’s founder had help from 9 friends

Having not lived in Texas for more than 40 years, coming back to Victoria is an emotional experience for Viola de Leon Teeter. A direct descendant of the city’s founder, Martin de Leon, Teeter had heard a lot of stories about her ancestors from the time she was a little girl. “Every time I come back here, I think about all the generations of my family that have lived here, worked here and all that they built and suffered through,” she said. “It’s almost like when you go to Rome to see the Coliseum and you pretend you were there during its prime.
